Sometimes we think that, once we make a decision, everything settled. This may be the case, but it may also be true that the real adventure is only beginning once our decision is made. Abraham's choice to follow the Lord and go into another land was the beginning of his journey. He needed faith to make his choice and to continue the journey. He did not know where he was going or what was waiting for him once he got there.
The great lesson here is that we should see our lives a s a journey rather than a destination. We are going somewhere, and our journey will only be complete once we get there. For the child of God, the end of the journey is the new home Jesus has prepared in heaven (John 14:2), but , sadly for the lost person the end of the journey is eternal doom. As in our physical lives, the place we eventually get to is determined by the road we take. If we trust Jesus and decide to follow Him, we can be assured of his protection and guidance. If we refuse to follow Jesus, we are either on our own or, even worse, we are being led by Satan.
None of us knows the future. We do not know where our lives will take us. This is why we need a guide, and the only reliable guide is the Lord. When we learn from His word and follow His Spirit, we can be assured we will get where He wants us to go and we will be happy when we get there.
